hey there
so we got to miami on time this morning at about 7.30. When we left the station there was a moment of panic. A guy ran into the station to tell the man behind the counter that ther was a woman lying on the street having an attack or so mething. We saw her lying there but did not stay there were enough people staring already.
A taxi was there and we asked the driver how much it would be to the hostel. After answering he asked us where the hostel is. Does that make sense? How can he tell us a price if he doesnt know where to go? But it turned out that his estimation was not to bad after all.
At the hostel the guy (i recognized him from last year) told us it was too early to check in. So we stored our bags and went to starbucks for breakfast. Then we walked around miami beach. It still looks the same as last year (the pizza and the mexican place we used to go to last year are still here).
We got back to the hostel in time for the free lunch. Pizza, just like last year and served by the same old little lady that still acts and parties like a 25 year old and who everyone calls mama. At check in we had the option to get a female 6 bed dorm or a semi privat with three other people. We took the semi. It looked like the room we staied in last year.
Once we were settled in we put on the bikinis and hit the beach till it was time for supper. That is the same as last year too, rice with some veggis and chicken. But hey i dont complain, it tastes fine and is free.
I spotted all the same people working here as last year which is cool. Normally when i go back to a hostel its all new faces.
We finished the evening at starbucks, just relaxing and reading on the couch that reminds me of the one in Friends.

July 29 2010 - Goal of the day: find the cups!!!
hey there
We finally went to the magic kingdom today! yay! Meaning: sleeping beautys castle, space mountain, parades,and my all time favourite ride: the peter pan ride.
It was really an awesome day and after we discovered the fastpass it got even better. A fastpass is a ticket you can get at the ride and it tells u to come back at a certain time and u wont have to stand in line anymore. It doesnt cost anything so i dont understand why not everybody is doing it.
We also went on the ride that inspired the pirates of the caribbean movies. Its calle, who would have guessed, pirates of the caribbean. It reminds me of the piraten von batavia ride in europa park. It really is a beautiful ride (maybe beautiful is the wrong word but i cant think of a better one right now :))
we also went into all the stores to find my cups but no luck. At least Fibs found the funny ones she wanted.
And also, we found the graduation hat Sandy wanted for Cass, of course we could not resist trying it on :)
At 9 there was a parade going on. When that happens the disney people close up some areas and if u want to watch u have to be in there. A guy who works there said that if we found a spot somewhere we could enter. We spottet a place where the two of us could stand easily and i went in first then i steped aside to let fabienne in and as soon as i did that the old couple in front of me turned around and said "we have no room here and this is our spot!" seriously who do they think they are? The owner of the street or what? I told them i would move aside abit as soon as my friend was in here too. They did not look happy about it but really who cared? Sometimes i feel like old people think they have the right to do anything and say anything to younger people just because they are old! The guys standing next to us looked at us smiled and we exchanged a few words. They didnt get the old couples problem eighter.
The parade was awesome!
After that we looked for a good spot to see the fireworks. They were the cherry on top of our amazing day here. Really! Perfectly synchronized with great music etc.
I was still missing my cups but the day was awesome and maybe ill find them manana :)

July 30 2010 - Absolutely ridiculous (and i dont know how to spell this word :))
hello again
already the last day at disney, the magic is coming to an end :( we packed, checked out, stored our bags and had breakfast for the last time in the hotel's own food court before we took the bus to animal kingdom.
The first thing we did when we got there was go to the lion king show. We had wanted to go see the lion king broadway show in new york but we couldnt get tickets so at least we would se some of it here. We were a bit too late to get good seats for taking pics. What we did was enjoy the first show and then stay for the next one and of course move to better seats. It was breathtaking. We did not mind at all watching the whole thing twice in a row. We decided that the day the musical makes it to switzerland, we are so there.
We also saw the finding nemo show which was very different but just as good. I have to say, disney does a really great job here!
We also did a safari where we saw lions elephabts and girafs and we saw the yeti on the everest ride. The last thing we did was the rafting ride. We got soaked and i really mean it. But it was so hot today that we didnt mind and went again.
To conclude our stay, we went to downtown disney which is basically a little village with stores and restaurants. They also have the biggest disney store there and guess what: I FOUND MY CUPS!!!! YAY!!!
Back at the hotel we got our luggage and took a taxi to the greyhound busstation in Orlando. We had barely walked in there when security people stopped us. Before even getting a ticket they searched our luggage through and through and not only the carry on, no, also the bag that would go under the bus. I had never seen that before and i think Fibs has been shocked for life. I mean it is kind of gross when you know this guys dug through all ur stuff including ur underware! I guess this is the only place where these guys feel like they are somebody and they have to show everyone that they are the boss!
Anyway we still had like 3 hours to kill before my last greyhound ride would start.

July 28 2010 - Entering the World of Disney
hey everyone
so we started the day at LaGuardia airport just like we ended the one yesterday. We checked in on a machine at 5am. And you know what? I just dont get the whole point of the self check-in. How does it make things process faster if u still have to go line up to drop of ur bag? Where is the sense in that?
The line we stood in was really long and there were three ladies constantlly telling us to step up and stand closer to each other instead of working at one of the 5 closed counters. Things like that make me mad. Finally the lady behind fabienne spoke out what i had been thinking for a while. After she was told to step up again she turned to the woman and said "what do you want me to do? Climb on top of her (she meant Fibs)?" that shut the airport woman up for a while. When we drpped off our bags they handled johnny so bad that all the safety pins cracked and i had to take them all out. Now i just hoped all my stuff would stay in my bag during the flight.
We made it through security (it was about 6 now) and immediately looked for a starbucks to get our usual breakfast. We found one and although the sign said it opens at 4.30 it was still closed. The guy was standing next to the store he was supposed to open and chatted with someone. We decided to just stand there and look annoied (not difficult to pretend right then) so maybe he would notice the waiting customers. No luck he ignored us! We left and when we were walking away he yelled apologies after us and that it wasnt his fault that his collegue had not shown up bla bla bla... We got bagles somewhere else!
We hadnt really slept that night so we caught up on that while being in the aire. We landed on time got our luggage and looked for the bus that was supposed to take us to our hotel. Pretty easy. We got there showered and because we didnt want to waste our first day here we took the free shuttle bus to the hollywood studios (disney world consists of 4 different parks, epcot, animal kingdom, magic kingdom which basically is disneyland and the hollywood studios) right after having lunch.
It was awesome. We saw different things like an arielle show or a movie on walt disneys life etc. They even have their own american idol show in the park. They have auditions and shows during the day and the last show of the day is the finally. We watched it before leaving the park.
Dad u should probably not read the following :)
i found two beautiful cups in a store and i really want them and i will buy them at magic kingdom tomorrow. Yes i m bringing 2 more cups home!
Back at the hotel we went to bed early in order to be fit for the magic kingdom tomorrow!

July 27 2010 - Prada, Jimmi, Manolo, Yves, Louboutin....
hello there
unfortunately this is already our last day in the big apple. We actually only leave tomorrow morning but our flight is so early that we decided to canclle or last night at the hostel and spend it at the airport instead. But we still have a full day of fun ahead of us and here is how we spent it:
First thing, breakfast at starbucks of course then we split up. Fibs and kirsten went to abercrombie where i would meet them after having gone back to the american airlines office. I figured out what to do instead of going to the caribbean so now i needed new flights which the same niice woman from yesterday arranged for me. She also thought that i fly a lot and put me on their frequant flyer program.
I met up with the girls and kirsten decided we could not leave new york without having been to Saks Fifth Avenue to at least look at the gorgeous shoes. When we got there we found ourselfs in shoe heaven. And they also had a huge sale going on which doesnt mean cheap shoes but at least cheaper shoes! I found an awesome louboutin. When i asked for the second one the guy said "ok i will go get HER for you" her? Did he really say that? Trust me he did. Unfortunatelly he did not find her. Which to me seems wierd cause if the left one is here the right one cant be to far away right? I found another great pair and really considered buying them. I mean when do u ever get the chance to buy louboutins for 200 bucks?
Fibs had her eye on an amazing pair of soft pink jimmy choose. Too bad her eye also had to see another girls foot wearing them. And when u looked at that girls face u could read "i am not letting you go again" in her expresion.
Kirsten found the most beautiful louboutins. Unfortunately hers were not on sale.
After kirstend decided she could not affored another pair of four digits shoes we all left the store emptyhanded and ready for comfort food :) we ended up at europa cafe.
We spent the rest of the afternoon in barnes and nobles taking and buying books instead of shoes :) back at the hostel we finished packing and then went to the cinema. Kirsten had just seen inception and said we just had to see it and that she wanted to see it again. I had seen the trailer and was not to confinced we went anyway. Wierd movie but actually not that bad and i have to admit that leonardo dicaprio is a pretty good actor.
After this we said goodbye to kirsten picked up our luggage and tool the metro and the bus to laguardia where we couldnt really sleep cause we were so excited to get to disney world!

July 26 2010 - Going "affair to remember"
hey there
ok so we spend today without kirsten cause we got up very early because we had a lot to do.
After the Starbucks morning ritual we went to the american airlines office to see if i could change and/or get a refund on my tickets. The lady that helped me there was very nice and helpful. Turnd out ill lose one ticket (at least its the cheapest one) ill get money back for one in switzerland and i get a voucher for the third one so i was pretty happy when we left the office. Then we went to the beautiful public library to look at it and take some pics.
Then again like every day we stopped at abercrombie and fitch. Its worth going in there just to look at the beautiful people working in there smell the awesome parfume they spray everywhere (in fact u can smell abercrombie even if ur still a block away!) and to listen to the same 10 songs repeting theselves all day long. Really its an excperience nobody should miss! kirsten fabienne and i are so crazy about the parfum that we carry around those testing strip everywhere...
After the morning had passed rather quickly we started to feel hungry already. Today was chipotle day again that decision had ben made a while ago. So we walked around between 5th 6th and 7th avenue till we finally found one. We also bought the chips and guacamole to take to the park with us and eat there. When we were done eating we finally made it to central park. I love it there. Street performerc artists and musicians are one every corner. Theres something to see everywhere. We stopped at the gorgeous boatshouse where we had a couple of after birthday cosmopolitans. We kept walking around and eventually ate the chips.
Out of the woods again we thought it would be cool to go up the empire state building to see the sun set. When we got there we found out that apparently a lot of other people had had the same idea. The lines where huge but the view over the city in the dark is absolutely breathtaking. I just wish there would have been less people that way it was just fighting for the best spot not really enjoing. The whole thing took us over 3 hours. Crazy!
On the way back we stopped at bryant park. Why? Well three years ago somebody told me that the friends fountain was there (you know, the fountain the 6 friends dance in at the beginning of every episode) however during my last to new york visits i seemed unable to locate it and now, just walking by the park BOOM there it was. Of course we had to take pictures. We even stood in it :) awesome!
Needless to say we were tired after this busy day!

July 25 2010 - New York has gone Mad...Again
Hello everyone
so i woke up one year older today! 23 wow thats definitly closer to 25 then 20 :(
The day was actually pretty eventful, in both ways, good and bad.
What we wanted to do was the following: go to grand central station (cause its a beautiful place) pick up cupcakes at the magnolia bakery (the sex and the city bakery) and then go for sushi (katie its ur fault we re addiced now :)) Sounds good doesnt it?
instead what we did was that: yestarday kirsten wore the dress she had bought at forever 21 and aftedr swearing it for like an hour it broke so first thing was go to forever 21 and exchange it (which they refused to do for some stupid rreason). Next stop was Tiffanys again. When i put on my new necklace this morning i realised the silver had ugly black stains that i could not get off. So i brought it back and they cleaned it professionally for me. Then me stopped at europa cafe where kirsten and fabienne had lunch (i saved room for the cupcake). Im a total fan of europa cafe now. They have a lot of different food but what i like is the salads. U chose a bowl of simple green salad and then whatever u want in it like chicken or shrimp or tomato or cucumber or nuts etc. Its great. After that we were finally on the way to grand central but then it started to rain and it raind hard we were soaked by the time we got there. We found the magnolia bakery that is located in the food court of the station. Instead of taking the cupcakes to the park we ate them there. All i can say is OMG soooooo gooooood! We posponed the park to tomorrow and hoped it would not rain again. When we got back to the hostel it was already about 5.30 and we decided to do laundry. Then Fabienne took a nap and i looked at my travel planes. I suddanly panicked when i thought about the caribbean and i mean panicked. I texted mum and dad and a bit later decided that i was going to chicken out of that part of my trip. I realized im to worried to go there by myself. A bit late i know!
Later that evening (after being annoied about some german guys taking our clean clothes out of the machine and throwing it god knows where) we went back to europa cafe and i had a yummy salad too. Fabienne got another coldstone and i got a jumba juice for dessert. It was hard to get there though cause we had to walk across time square where the public screening of the first episode of the 4th season of mad man was going on. Just like last year except it was the 3rd season then :)

Then Fabienne took a nap and i looked at my travel planes. I suddanly panicked when i thought about the caribbean and i mean panicked. I texted mum and dad and a bit later decided that i was going to chicken out of that part of my trip. I realized im to worried to go there by myself. A bit late i know!
Later that evening (after being annoied about some german guys taking our clean clothes out of the machine and throwing it god knows where) we went back to europa cafe and i had a yummy salad too. Fabienne got another coldstone and i got a jumba juice for dessert. It was hard to get there though cause we had to walk across time square where the public screening of the first episode of the 4th season of mad man was going on. Just like last year except it was the 3rd season then :)
